FERNDALE, Mich., Jan 26, 2005 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- The number 13 tattooed on his forehead has led to the arrest of Detroit rapper Terrence Moore, known as Terry Maddog, in the death of a studio owner.
The 26-year-old appeared in court in Ferndale, northwest of Detroit, Tuesday, and refused to enter a plea. Judge Joseph Longo entered a not guilty plea on his behalf, the Detroit Free Press said Wednesday.
He is charged with shooting Amjed Abdallah Jan. 2 at a recording studio Abdallah owned. The body was found two days later.
Weeks before, Abdallah gained national media attention for putting his studio up for sale on eBay, advertising it as the place where Eminem recorded his breakthrough CD "The Slim Shady LP." However, most of the tracks for the CD were recorded in Los Angeles.
Moore allegedly took a $25,000 mixing board when he fled, and tried to pawn it the next day for $5,000, police said. The shop owner later told police he distinctly recalled the number 13 tattoo on Moore's forehead.
Moore is being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail, and makes his next appearance Feb. 3. If convicted, he faces mandatory life in prison without a chance of parole.
